Donor Advised Funds

Donor Advised Funds (DAF) allow the donor to recommend eligible charitable recipients for grants from the fund. (The Foundation’s board has final approval of the recommendations.)

Donor Advised Funds are one of the most flexible funds the Foundation offers because a DAF allows a donor to consolidate all tax deductible assets and charitable giving into one vehicle that is invested by the Foundation for growth. DAFs can be established by individuals, families, companies or the rollover from a private foundation.

Barbara’s Legacy

Barbara Jean (Allen) Schlatter was born and raised in Lebanon, KS, attending elementary school in a one room country school in the Stuart community and graduating from Lebanon High School in 1961. It's also where she and husband Ernie farmed and raised their two children, Walt and Sheila.

Barbara was a very active member of the community including serving on the Smith County Extension and American Legion Auxiliary boards and teaching sewing, crocheting and knitting a the 4-Oaks 4-H Club. Among her other numerous volunteer activities, she was also a dedicated farm wife and a pivotal part of the family farming operation.

When Barbara passed away in October 2012, her husband Ernie wanted to create a fund that would continue to honor his wife's legacy. By creating the Barbara Schlatter Memorial Donor Advised Fund, Ernie and his family can continue to give to organizations that Barbara supported during her lifetime.
